Canvas Feature/Functional Gaps List

Main content start

Feel like your Canvas experience is missing something? Let us know! Canvas is a great product, but as with any learning management system, it’s not perfect. Thanks to feedback we’ve already received from users like you, our team is working hard to close feature gaps and improve pain points. Keep in mind that Canvas is a commercial product, so we may be limited in what we can change, but rest assured, we will work with you to achieve your teaching goals, even if it means finding a workaround.

Use the link below to see the feature gaps and requests we know about and what we’re working on. We will update this list regularly as work is completed and new projects are added.

The Canvas Community site is a place for Canvas users to share resources and discuss Canvas feature ideas. The Canvas Community site offers Canvas users the opportunity to vet and vote for feature ideas by priority and utility. Canvas user input and feedback is a driver in how Instructure (the company that makes Canvas) prioritizes development and bug fixes for Canvas. If there is a particular feature/functionality that you would like to see added to Canvas, we need you to cast your vote(s)!
