Permalink for Discussion Replies
Staring May 17, Canvas Discussions will allow users to copy a link to individual replies. To find permalinks, find the reply you want to link to, click on the three dots (More Options) to the right of the reply and select Copy Link. Linking is available for high level and nested discussion replies. When navigating to the direct link in the browser, the linked comment will temporarily display in a blue box.

Canvas Video Tutorials
The Stanford Canvas team has put together a number of Canvas tutorial videos posted to our GoCanvas site. The videos cover a range of topics, such as the Syllabus, Easy Course Import, Files, and more. If you're just getting started with putting together your Canvas course this quarter, please check out the videos.
Unpublished Course Cards Available on Dashboard (Students)
Previously, Canvas courses that were not yet published for the term were hidden from student dashboards, without any way for students to manually add the cards to their Dashboard view. This caused students to think they were not added to the Canvas course even though they had enrolled through Axess. Starting in Spring 2024, students can now see unpublished course cards on their dashboards for the current term. In addition, if a syllabus has been uploaded to the Syllabus tool in the unpublished course, students will have a link on the card to view the syllabus.

Easy Course Import Date Removal
When using the Easy Course Import tool to copy content from one Canvas course to another, all dates in the copied content are now stripped when imported into the new course.
New Media Player
Starting April 19, Canvas will have a new version of the Media Player. The new player has improved accessibility, an increased default embed size, a new play bar, updated Closed Caption icon, enhanced privacy measures for secure playback, auto-adjust video quality based on one's bandwidth, and the ability to upload and delete captions.
