Recording Zoom meetings for a few students
When you don't want to share a meeting recording with the whole class
Early in the pandemic, we emphasized the Zoom tool within Canvas, which is designed to create meetings and share meeting recordings with the whole class (both within the tool and to Panopto Course Videos).
If instead instructors want to record a class meeting in Zoom for a few individual students in the class who are unable to attend and don’t want the whole class to have access to the recording, they should schedule meetings from their Stanford Zoom account.
- Schedule a meeting (see recommended setting for Zoom-based classes)
- Starting a cloud recording
- How to share Zoom recordings: while this article was originally written to inform instructors of how to extend recording access for concluded courses, the advice in the section “Someone specifically needs continued access” is relevant in this case to ensure students keep the shared recording to themselves.
