  • A tutorial video on how to add people to a course. Canvas Help articles include information on how to add users to a past course and instructor access to past courses. 

  • AI Discussion Summaries, uses a generative AI model to provide instructors with summaries of key points, questions, and ideas in a discussion thread on Canvas.

  • Canvas Assignments allows teaching teams to create, manage, and grade assignments for students. This tool provides a structured way to distribute assignments, collect student submissions, and provide feedback

  • A Canvas Essentials tutorial video approximately 26 minutes long. The tutorial reviews the Canvas Dashboard, Calendar, People, Roster Photos, Syllabus, and Files tool. 

  • Canvas Course Notifications are designed to keep students and instructors informed about important activities and updates related to their courses.

  • A tutorial video on how to create and grade letter grade assignments.  Canvas Help articles also detail how to enter letter grades for student assignments and calculate final grades in Canvas.

  • The Discussions tool allows for both instructors and students to start and contribute to as many discussion topics as desired.  Discussions allow for interactive communication between two or more people; users can participate in a conversation with an entire class or group.

  • The Stanford Canvas team has built a custom, simplified version of the Canvas import feature called Easy Course Import. This new feature guides instructors to choose only the content they want to reuse in the new course.

  • The Files feature in Canvas allows users to store files and assignments within Canvas. Users can upload one or multiple files, view all details about files, preview files, publish and unpublish files, set usage rights, and restrict access to files.

  • Utilizing Pages aids in the seamless flow of a course. Pages are a great option to organize course information, according to weeks, units, themes, and projects.  Pages also allows instructors to create and display content text, images, videos, and links to other course materials. 

  • A tutorial video on how to utilize the Roster Photos tool in Canvas. Canvas Help articles include information about printing Roster Photos, users recording name pronunciation in NameCoach, student pronouns in Canvas instructor guide, and student access to peer information.

  • SCRIBE is an online document conversion system that transforms text and image-based file types into different formats. SCRIBE is automatically installed in every Canvas course. View the tutorial video to learn more about Scribe. 

  • Whether you have a Canvas course or an external website, utilizing the Syllabus tool in Canvas helps both prospective and enrolled students access course information. 

  • Canvas courses are converted to read-only mode after the term ends (or when the course end date passes). It is possible for instructors to unlock courses to allow course members to interact with the course again (add/edit content, send messages, etc.)
