Instructors can now temporarily unlock their Canvas course even after it concludes without writing in to Canvas Help. This may be helpful if you have unanticipated situations after the end of the quarter, such as:
- You want to send an announcement to former students. The course needs to be active to post an announcement and send notifications.
- You want to change a setting, like restricting access to students, and forget to do it before the term ends.
- You want to add grades or give feedback to student work after the term is over.
By default, the course will be unlocked for seven days but you can lock it earlier or change the Participation End Date if needed. We recommend leaving it unlocked only for the time necessary to make your changes, as it will be accessible to former students during that time.
